First Annual Shiner BASH Dallas Celebrates Texas Music, Food & Shiner Beer

April 1, 2005

DALLAS, TX – 2005 marks the first year for Shiner BASH Dallas, the soon-to-be premiere spring outdoor music experience in Central Texas. With the city of Dallas as a backdrop, the first annual Shiner BASH Dallas, a showcase of Americana music is set for Saturday, April 30, 2005. This day-long music festival, sponsored by Shiner beers, will take place at Gilley’s Dance Hall in Dallas, Texas. The all-star line-up consists of Texas and Americana artists Dwight Yoakam, Aaron Tippin, Chris Cagle and Darryl Lee Rush. A special guest performance is also scheduled for the VIP show inside Gilley’s Dance Hall, after the Shiner BASH concert.

Not wanting to forget music fans in Dallas, Shiner is now holding a celebration at Gilley’s, complete with Texas Music and Shiner Beer. For the past six years, Shiner has been celebrating Texas music and the beautiful Texas-spring weather with an annual event in Shiner, Texas. Shiner now has two Texas-sized celebrations–Shiner BASH Dallas on April 30th and Shiner B.A.S.H.–Bike–Austin–San Antonio–Houston and a music concert on May 14th.

The legend of the original Gilley’s in Pasadena, Texas, crystallized the very moment country music was building a bridge to the rock generation, the moment when country became pop, and would never be the same again; Gilley’s was where it happened. Mickey Gilley’s place hosted concerts by Jerry Lee Lewis, Hank Williams, Jr., Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard, Waylon Jennings, Charlie Daniels and Gilley himself that spurred the transition that would draw crowds from miles around and visitors from around the country. Today, Gilley’s Dallas carries the legend, but the new location offers an expanded agenda for entertainment.

Kentucky native Dwight Yoakam blazed out of the Los Angeles club scene in 1986 with his debut “Guitars, Cadillacs, “which went on to score double-platinum status; BASH will give you the opportunity to see why Time magazine hails him as “A Renaissance Man.” Aaron Tippin has performed in honky-tonks since the 70s and has pursued his music with a vengeance. You will be reminded how great it is to be an American when you hear his patriotic anthem “Where The Stars and Stripes and the Eagle Fly,” which peaked at number two on the Country Music Charts. Chris Cagle is a blue collar, working class country singer who’s not afraid to sweat or get loud; you’ll see yourself in his music that champions blue collar workers, the overlooked and the underpaid. Texas singer/songwriter, Darryl Lee Rush, was born in Markham; a small farming community in south central Texas. Like many great songwriters, he paints a lively, humorous and often irreverent picture of the diverse Texas landscape.

Gates open at noon and the music will play from 1 until 10 p.m. Tickets go on sale March 30th, for $19.09 and are available at the Gilley’s Box Office and Star Tickets in Albertsons Grocery Stores. Bring a folding chair and get ready for a good time. Great food and beverages–including award-winning Shiner brews–will be available for purchase throughout the day. Other activities include interactive games, exhibits, exciting foods and, of course, Shiner beer. An ATM will also be available onsite.

Please be sure to leave at home all weapons, knives of any kind, blankets, lounge chairs, food and drink.

The special VIP concert is scheduled from 11:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. and will be held inside Gilley’s Dance Hall. VIP tickets cost an additional $10 and are available at all locations offering BASH tickets. For more information, please visit the Web site at www.Shiner.com.
