Kid Rock Helps Concert Set New Attendance Record

SHINER, TEXAS, Oct. 26, 2004 – A record breaking attendance of 20,000 Shiner beer fans and music fanatics made the pilgrimage to the 11th Annual Shiner Bocktoberfest Concert on Saturday, Oct. 16. Concert-goers gathered in Green Dickson Park under the Texas sunshine to enjoy sausage wraps, turkey legs, funnel cakes and, of course cold Shiner beer while jamming to a diverse and energetic musical line-up.

Fans from across the state, as far away as Amarillo made the road trip to the biggest, longest-standing, outdoor music festival in Texas. Once inside the gates, concert-goers searched for the best spot to set up lawn chairs for their day of food, beer and music. Festival booths lined the concert grounds selling everything from fajitas and blooming onions to the infamous chicken hats and henna tattoos. Fans flocked to the booths to buy plenty of Shiner paraphernalia and t-shirts featuring the day’s performers.

At the top of the bill was Detroit rocker, Kid Rock, who took the stage with a bang and the crowd chanting his name. Modern/Alt rockers STAIND performed smash hits such as “It’s Been Awhile” and “Fade.” Blues prodigy Kenny Wayne Shepherd entertained the audience with his mix of blues and rock. The legendary Texas singer/songwriter Lyle Lovett and His Large Band and the Kings of Texas Swing Asleep at the Wheel had concert-goers dancing in Green Dickson Park. Alternative Country singer/songwriter Cory Morrow and Shiner native Bill Pekar started the party with Texas tunes.

Proceeds from the Shiner Bocktoberfest Concert benefit the Shiner Chamber of Commerce and other Shiner civic and charitable organizations.
